Since 2009, BCI has been working on strengthening its footprint in Nigeria to help the country meet the rising demand of trained and certified BPO professionals in its growing outsourcing industry. Earlier in the month, BCI appointed Integrated Corporate Services Limited (ICS), one of West Africa’s leading Outsourcing Services providers as an authorized BCI Training Provider. ICS now is on its way to completing the establishment of a state-of-the-art ICT-BPO Academy, under license from BCI. ICS has an impressive nationwide presence, and to start with, it plans to get its own 12000+ workforce BCI certified on HCMS21 framework. This experience should couple well with ICS’ proven knowledge and expertise in outsourcing services delivery, and will place the company ideally for breeding worldclass workforce for BPO. Notably, Nigeria will need around 10000-12000 BPO-ready professionals to enter the industry by 2015 if it wants to leverage its strategic BPO advantages, of time zone benefits, low labor costs, large English-speaking population and conducive labor regulations. Expectedly, ICS has drawn up plans to contribute significantly to BPO talent development in Nigeria.
Looking at the prospects in the BPO sector, the Nigerian government is all set to provide an environment that is conducive for the growth of BPO industry. The Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) has aimed to create 1 million jobs through IT, Call Centers and BPO in 5 years, starting September 2012. ICS, on its own, targets training and certifying at least 3000 individuals by the turn of 2015, and become Nigeria’s only integrated BPO workforce development company offering training & certification solutions to BPO companies and call centers as well. BCI is actively on course to collaborating with organizations like ODIN to develop large-scale BCI certified and trained BPO workforce funded by the government and the World Bank.
